Annie Hex
Annie Hex (she/they) is a queer performance artist, spoken word poet, community organizer, tarot reader, & witch. She creates dreamy, safe spaces for LGBTQIA2S+ folks locally and anywhere her iconic pink van will take her.
She’s on a mission to spread queer joy, love, and magic. She fights to create spaces and home here for neurodivergent, queer trauma survivors like herself and anyone who has ever felt like they didn’t belong.
She curates spaces that radiate slumber party energy. She holds space for people to be themselves and feel gender euphoria. This is why she hosts a Queer Prom every pride. She wants to give folks the proms they didn’t have growing up and spaces where they can be unapologetically out!
When she isn’t out in the world hosting events, performing, or working with queer youth, she is reading cards at her tarot speakeasy “The Pink Room” in Batavia. She reads in a way only a poet can. Her readings are meant to push her clients into dreaming bigger, healing trauma, getting unblocked creatively and making brave moves.
all her work collectively is how she heals from growing up here closeted. Annie’s on a mission to make the suburbs queer so that no one has to hide the way she once did.
She takes up space with her audacious presence and hopes to inspire others to do the same. She wants folks to know that they can be out, loud, queer, big, weird, and unapologetic about it all like her. If you’re on the fence about coming out, she says do it for the queer kids here. Show them a dreamy queer future is possible + lead the way.
In June of 2024, she was grand marshal of the Aurora PRide parade. This was particularly meaningful because she got to show up as her full authentic self in her hometown where she once was closeted. She waved to kids like a queer disney princess. They took pictures with her.
It was ceremonial.
